Getting Free Stuff Online Explained

After having a lot of responses about the Free Stuff Arriving Video, we've put together this tutorial explaining the whole process. We've tried to explain how and why the whole thing works but if you don't understand something just send us an email.

You must have heard of people getting free iPods online. But did you know you can get also xbox 360s, ps3s, HDTVs and all kinds of expensive stuff for free.
Why would someone give something away for free?
The motive behind it is advertising. Every time you watch TV, listen to the radio or surf the web you see and hear adverts. Companies pay lots of money to get these adverts on TV stations, sometimes millions of dollars (for example during the Superbowl). And who does this money go to? The people showing the advert.
Companies pay a small amount each time their banner is shown to people on a site. But they pay a lot more money to the websites owners every time someone clicks that banner and signs up to their service / buys their product / whatever it is they offer. So by sending a lot of people to these companies, the websites could generate a lot of money, right.
But how do you get people to want to click on these banners? You know how it is when you're looking at a website, you just glance right past the banners. So to make any money the websites need to offer you an incentive to click on the banners and sign up, maybe in the shape of... a free iPod? Think about it, if the websites are being paid £30 for every person they send to a company, for 10 people who sign up that's £300. If they passed the job of getting people to sign up onto someone else, they could easily afford to offer them a £200 iPod if they're going to make £330 from the 11 signups (the one person that got the iPod, and the 10 people they referred).

Either way, from the person signing ups point of view it works. I signed up to one of their websites, referred 10 people and I got an Xbox 360. I'm happy, the site giving away the 360 is happy. As for the company I signed up to (it was a DVD rental website) I did a two week trial, I liked it, and I'm now a paying customer. But if I didn't like it I could have easily cancelled before the trial ended and not paid a thing.

I signed up in October 2006, completed the offer and got all the needed referrals by the end of the month. Seeing how easy it was, I decided to sign up to more sites. I completed an iPod nano, games console (for a PSP) and Mac Mini site. They all arrived on December 1st 2006. I was told by the person who runs the website that the free stuff would be delivered on that day. So we setup the cameras and waited for it to arrive...

Interested yet? Here's a pretty brief rundown of what you need to do...

  • Pick one of the giveaway websites below to sign up to, put in your name, create a password and put in your address. (There's no spam or anything, don't worry)
  • Once you've signed up you can login. When you login you'll see a page similar to the following...

You need to chose one of these offers that is the most appealing to you, click on it and sign up on that site. All the offers shown here are from well known big brands such as British Gas, AOL and Blockbuster. Most of these offers require a credit or debit card even though a lot of them are free. With the Lovefilm offer for example (and I think it's the same for the Blockbuster one if you're in the US) you sign up to a completely free trial of their service but they just need a card to verify who you are, and if you wish to stay signed up after the end of the trial then it much easier for you then.
    • Tips:
    • Clear your cookies in your browser before clicking onto any of these offers (you will need to login to the giveaway site again). This helps to make sure that the giveaway site are correctly notified that you've completed your offer by the company you're signing up with.
  • Once you've completed the offer, login to your account on the giveaway website and go to "Account Status" within a few days this page will change from saying "No Offer Completed" to "Offer Complete".
  • Now you can start on getting referrals. The number of referrals you need is different depending on which free item you chose when you signed up (incidentally, if you want to change the free gift your 're working towards there's a link on the "Account Status" page for you to do this). The number of referrals you need and the number you currently have is shown on the Account Status page. To get referrals, first you need to go to the Refer Friends page and find your unique referral link. When referring people to sign up you need to give this link as this is the only way that the giveaway owners know that it was you that referred them.
    • Notes:
    • For a referral to count they must sign up and complete an offer just like you did, people who have just signed up using your link but have not completed and offer can be seen on the Refer Friends page but will not count towards your number of referrals.
    • Tips:
    • Be creative when thinking of ways to promote your link, the best ideas are original ones. And don't spam, nobody likes that and it's against the terms and conditions of the giveaway site so you're likely to get banned. So just have fun working on it and enjoy your free gift.

Pick one of the sites below to sign up to, complete one of the offers yourself then just refer the required amount of people to sign up using your referral link and complete one of the offers.

All these sites are open to both the United Kingdom and the United States
